Making resolutions for the New Year is a tricky affair. You make New Year
resolutions, break many of them, and feel terrible about it. Why not try the
following wish list instead that can be like a sumptuous buffet spread on a
Sunday afternoon - you can eat as much as you like depending on how hungry you
are.
Starters: (pick any two)
- I will try to get up early as you can accomplish 30% more during 5 am to 10 am.
- I will walk at least for 30 minutes 4 times a week to stay physically fit.
- I will meditate / pray / visualize positive things or do yoga for 30 minutes every day.
- I will switch to at least one healthy item in my daily diet.
- I will pick up at least one task every day that is important but not urgent.
Main course (pick any four)
- I will train my brain to think creatively every day. I will try to do puzzles to stimulate my brain muscles.
- I will read at least one book every month as reading results in continuous learning.
- I will invest in more in my relationships, will take out quality time for my family and friends.
- I will find at least one task every day that is not my core competence and delegate it to improve my effectiveness.
- I will at least take one risky decision, which I was always scared to take
- I will reduce my mobile usage by 30%, to save my precious time.
- I will be sensitive to others and listen to what they say.
- I will do at least one thing every day that I enjoy and makes me truly happy.
- I will take at least one vacation in a year, go to a place that I have not seen.
- I will make at least one new friend.
- I will call two old friends, whom I have not spoken for years.
- I will devote at least one day every week for myself only. No business calls, no laptop. Does not matter, how big my business/position is. I have got only 52 weekends. I will not let anybody spoil them.
- I will smile at everyone I meet, even to the liftman, taxi driver, peon.
- I will laugh often, including laughing at myself..
- I will do one thing, which I was always fearful about.
- I will do at least one thing every week to help someone else.
